Pudsey Test & Inspection Ltd can offer testing to suit all international specifications in our ultrasonic immersion test facilities for tubes and bars.
Ultrasonic Inspection (UT) is a method of detecting flaws within a material or to determine the material thickness. Ultrasound is passed through the material via a couplant and is reflected back by internal flaws or the back wall surface of the object. The operator can then interpret these signals using specialist equipment. Ultrasound uses high frequency sound waves to achieve this, typically in the region of 0.1 - 15 MHz. In Immersion testing the object is immersed in water, the water acts as the couplant between the source of ultrasound and the material.
